GUITING GRANGE, GLOUCESTERSHIRE
MASTERPLAN IMPLEMENTED AT COTSWOLD ESTATE
Residential and conservation architects Acanthus Clews were commissioned to propose an overall strategy of improvement for this significant listed Cotswold estate. The result was a major program of development procured in 4 phases, encompassing the extension and remodeling of the main house, conversion and refurbishment of ancillary accommodation, and overall landscaping, all of which have involved difficult planning and conservation issues.
The house has been extended to provide new accommodation including Garden Room, Billiard Room, Playroom and luxury garaging. The existing 3-sided courtyard arrangement of the main house and ancillary buildings was closed off by the formation of new garage facilities. This allowed the creation of 2 intimate quadrangles on split levels, which provide very private gardens for the family and an appropriately formal entrance to the House.
