House Pre-Prep Extension
As a result
of our initial space audit, feasibility study and consultations
with the School the Pre-Prep at Winchester House School decided
to provided three new larger teaching spaces and to make a fundamental
change to the way the site was used.
The project
was completed in September 2000. It provides the new classrooms,
cloakrooms and wcs which run along a glazed roofed reception
hall. The hallway forms the new school entrance which is accessed
form the enlarged school car-park. The new entrance position allows
all the space at the rear of the school to become a car-free area,
safe and secure for children to play and learn.
The new building
is constructed in red brick work under a tiled roof fitting into
the existing context. The hallway with its glass ends and roof
form a bright new link between the end of the older building and
the new extension. Because of the position of the extension it
was able to be built during term time and the finishing links
carried out through the Summer holiday ready for the Autumn term.
