St Andrew’s Church Rugby restored
A three year programme of specialist repair work has successfully restored this fine church to its former glory.

St Andrew’s had got into a dangerous state but comprehensive repair plans from Acanthus Clews, a £160,000 grant from English Heritage and some excellent craftsmanship has left the vicar and local community delighted with the result.

The church is considered to be the oldest building in Rugby and parts of it have been standing for nearly 1,000 years. Acanthus Clews believe the new work will last at least 500 years.

With the help of a silver trowel used in the rebuilding of the church in the nineteenth century, the Rev. Edward Condrey laid the final stone on the Kings Chair at the top of the medieval west tower.
