Church spire repairs seen by millions

Acanthus Clews’ repair work to the soaring spire of St Mary’s Church, Bloxham was seen on 21st May in an episode of Channel 4’s Tony Robinson series, The Worst Jobs in History.

Tony Robinson decided to join architect Andrew Salter and the specialist steeplejacks inspecting the progress of the works at the top of the two hundred foot spire.

The intricate repairs benefited from English Heritage grant funding, which requires that only RIBA/AABC accredited architects work on these projects. Acanthus Clews’ Andrew Salter, founder Michael Clews and Dr David Pendery are three of just seven accredited in the whole of Oxfordshire.
