Headquarters (Phase1) for FMCG
The
work at Albury Court was split into 2 phases. Phase I, which is
complete, consists of the alterations and extensions to an existing
converted complex of agricultural buildings. The client, a field
marketing consultancy, was rapidly out growing their current accommodation
and required both a short term and long term solution to their
needs.
Their
existing buildings wrapped around three sides of a courtyard.
The main problem was that the arrangement was uneconomical, due
to the space required for circulation.
A
striking new cloister was constructed of exposed tapered timber
columns, supporting a timber structure and aluminium brise-soleil.
This new addition provides circulation outside the main office
building, creating additional usable space. The walls are generally
glass, using an aluminium glazing system, on a brick plinth wall,
set back from the exposed structure. This gives a translucent
effect and allows light into the existing buildings.
