Projects: CONSERVATION

Cathedral Architect, Llandaff Cathedral

Michael Clews was appointed as Cathedral Architect to Llandaff, Cardiff, by the Dean and Chapter. He is responsible for the conservation of the fabric and the design of new facilities to accommodate the contemporary needs of the Cathedral for religious activities and visitors.

Projects undertaken include the recovering of the South Aisle Roof and repairs to the external areas. Currently being planned is the reordering of the area to the west of the cathedral to provide disabled access and an area where people can congregate.

Recently completed was a feasibility study for a new Visitors’ Centre including restaurant and conference rooms together with proposals for new interior and exterior lighting of the cathedral.
