Acanthus Clews’ scheme opened by Prince Charles

A new Haven Trust centre for women with breast cancer, designed by architects Heather Clews and Emma Clark, was opened by HRH The Prince of Wales on 7th January.

The brief from the Haven Trust to Acanthus Clews was for an imaginative and creative scheme to create a homely, welcoming feel. The facilities required were individual and group therapy rooms, a library, coffee shop, reception and office facilities.

The challenge was to convert a large echoing meeting hall into intimate, welcoming rooms for counselling and alternative therapy.

Careful consideration was also given to colour, while designs have been developed in conjunction with a Feng Shui expert from America.
