| Extensions
and Refurbishment to Champneys Health Resort
Having
successfully completed a refurbishment of the bedroom wing, Acanthus
Clews were invited to prepare a comprehensive feasibility study
to rationalise the existing buildings, improve the main health
facilities and generally give Champneys a new lease of life.
Following
the study, a £6.5m scheme was implemented which included
a sensitively designed new building to cater for new restaurants,
kitchen, female spa and staff accommodation. In addition major
alterations were carried out to the main house with a complete
reorganisation of the entrance and approach.
The
result is a stylish and homogenous group of buildings around a
landscaped entrance courtyard, approached by a new formal drive
which creates a wow factor for the sense of arrival.
Internally the principle rooms have been refurbished to a high
standard and include a completely new reception area and the creation
of a new unisex spa under a glazed atrium roof.
