Brownsover Hall, New Stable Block Conversion

Acanthus Clews’ second design project at the Gilbert Scott designed Grade 2* listed building near Rugby was the creation of an additional sixteen high quality hotel bedroom suites.

The work involved the conversion of fire damaged stables and a redundant staff cottage

plus sensitive new build within the walled kitchen garden to form a link with existing stable buildings.

The conversion was very carefully designed to have minimal effect on the character and setting of the listed buildings.

The fire damaged sections were meticulously reconstructed to their former glory. Existing internal stable fixtures & fittings were retained as features within the new bedrooms.

The new bedroom accommodation extends Brownsover Hall Hotel’s offering as a highly attractive venue for conferences.

The project was the winner of The Best Hotel Architectural Design Award 1999.
