| Banqueting
& Conference facilities at Brownsover Hall Hotel
The
client required an expansion of their facilities at this attractive
Sir Gilbert Scott designed Grade II* listed Hotel. With Acanthus
Clews skills in sensitive contextual design, approval was
achieved for new conference facilities and kitchens, together
with a conversion and extension of existing stables and coach
house to form additional bedrooms.
The
current hotel has a good reputation as a venue for conference
trade. However the space is limited within the existing buildings
and the existing kitchens required refurbishment. Consequently
we were asked to put forward a scheme to provide additional meeting
rooms and conference facilities including a new banqueting suite
and kitchens to serve both the new accommodation and the current
restaurants and meeting rooms. They are to be constructed with
diaper brickwork and stone detailing to match the existing. Within
the banqueting hall the structure includes timber hammer beam
trusses.
