| New
Classrooms and Changing Rooms at Bilton Grange School
Phase lIl of
our work to Bilton Grange was the provision of a new changing
room and shower facility together with outdoor and games clothes
storage. It was originally planned to be in the lower ground floor
of the East Wing filling a gap between the original building and
an existing 1970s teaching block.
During the
course of the design investigation we noted that the classroom
block was subsiding substantially. The resultant project thus
involved the demolition and reconstruction of two classrooms and
the variation of the original design to form a juniors entrance
into the new classroom building.
The classroom
is designed under a low-pitched pyramidal roof of terne-coated
steel with overhanging eaves. The link has a partially glazed
roof which provides a new focus for the junior entry. The new
changing facility allows the previous outdated changing area on
the upper ground floor to become a new special geography room,
study and classroom.
